Gaza alert escalates as Israel plans election disruptions
Israel has raised its state of alert to its highest levels in the Gaza Strip ahead of the Knesset elections scheduled for Tuesday, fearing Hamas's influence on the electoral process. Security sources reported that the Israeli military has increased pressure on Hamas and Islamic Jihad, thwarting 2 to 3 operations daily, amid efforts by the chief of staff to strengthen preparations and prevent potential attacks such as rocket launches and infiltration. The aim is to protect the electoral system and prevent any possible threats. Intelligence gathering has also been intensified amid concerns that Hamas might attempt to influence the election results or rebuild its military wing, as Israel prepares for various scenarios including attacks on border areas and military sites.
