Iraqi Shib port closes to traffic
Iraqi authorities have suspended the movement of travelers and vehicles at the Shib border crossing between Iraq and Iran starting from Wednesday until further notice, due to a reassessment of security procedures in the area. The Iraqi government has not issued an official statement explaining the reasons for the decision or its duration, but press reports indicate a plan to gradually close several crossings in the coming days, amid accusations that this is a result of American pressure as part of the economic isolation plan imposed on Iran. This measure comes after a temporary closure of the border last month, which was implemented following a security investigation related to an attempt to target Saudi Arabia with drones launched from the border region.
