Armenian Parliament Votes on Trump Road Corridor
Armenia and Azerbaijan have launched a joint transport corridor agreement known as the "Trump Road," which connects the two countries and aims to facilitate peaceful transit. The document stipulates a ban on the passage of weapons, ammunition, and hazardous chemicals through the corridor, with each side committed to not shipping prohibited materials without prior approval, based on lists derived from international agreements. The agreement was ratified by the Armenian parliament with a majority, while an opposition bloc opposed it, and it is expected to be officially debated later. The project originated from an agreement signed in August 2025 between the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia, under the auspices of the U.S. administration, and was named the "Trump Road to Peace and Prosperity." The United States will oversee the management of the corridor for up to 99 years, as part of normalization efforts between the two countries.
