Explosions reported in Sirik, Iran
Sounds of explosions have been heard in the Iranian city of Sirik, with their source and nature remaining unidentified until now, amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. In February 2026, the U.S. and Israel launched an attack on Iran, which included the closing of the Strait of Hormuz— a vital point for global oil exports. However, by June, Washington and Tehran reached a memorandum of understanding to reopen the maritime passage, but it later stalled due to security and operational disagreements. Clashes between the two sides resumed in July and September.
