Ukraine plans to evacuate from key Donbas areas
Ukrainian authorities have ordered families with children to evacuate from the cities of Kramatorsk and Slovyansk in the Donetsk region due to the worsening security situation and the daily escalation of Russian shelling. The evacuation zones now include all towns within the two regions. The Russian army is approaching the cities, which are considered last major Ukrainian strongholds in the area, with Russian forces approaching within 5 to 15 kilometers of them. The risks to civilians have increased as a result of Russian strikes, which have caused several casualties. As of mid-October, approximately 350 children still remained in the region despite evacuation orders, amid ongoing military tensions.
