Focus on migrations, not diaspora
The article addresses the issue of using the term "Diaspora" to describe Lebanese people around the world, clarifying that this expression harms the identity of the Lebanese nation. It explains that Lebanese individuals are not scattered or lost in diaspora; rather, they are migrants who carry their heritage and culture and maintain their authentic roots in Lebanon. The article emphasizes that the term gives a negative impression of Lebanese people as displaced or exiled, while in reality they are beacons of success and creativity worldwide. Lebanon remains their true homeland despite political turmoil and conflicts that lead to large-scale emigration. The article suggests that terms like "migration" and "migrants" are more accurate, as they better reflect the Lebanese people's deep connection to their homeland. Conversely, using the term "diaspora" is considered an insult to their status, generosity, and profound bond with Lebanon.
