Last August, there was an escalation in attacks by settlers and Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians and their lands in the West Bank and Jerusalem. The Resistance Commission for the Wall and Settlements documented 628 assaults during this month. These attacks resulted in the martyrdom of a young man and injuries to 164 Palestinians, in addition to the destruction and uprooting of more than 21,500 trees, most of which were olive trees, indicating an increased targeting of farmers and their livelihoods. The assaults varied between gunfire, property destruction, and attacks on agricultural lands, amidst a state of alert, blockades, and provocative assaults by settlers—especially in areas like Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron, and the Jordan Valley—as well as clashes and assaults on Palestinian homes in occupied Jerusalem.
