The General Union of Palestinian Teachers announced that the 2026-2027 academic year will start with a three-day school week, with the education directorates determining the specific days, except for the Jerusalem Directorate, which will operate five full days a week. The statement also noted the payment of a 50% appointment allowance for principals and the continued disbursement of transportation and teacher entitlements despite economic challenges and the ongoing war on the sector. Additionally, the union emphasized the continuation of union struggles to demand full salaries and the completion of agreements, amidst difficult conditions related to the Gaza blockade and financial crises.
