Twelve settler families have begun living in the “Shalim” settlement, built on land belonging to the village of Salem, east of Nablus. It is the ninth settlement established in the northern West Bank in less than a year. Yossi Dagan, head of the Northern West Bank Settlements Council, announced plans to establish 19 new settlements to link settlement blocs. The expansion threatens around 8,000 dunams of Salem’s land and restricts farmers’ access to it. Its impact extends to agriculture, grazing, and residents’ livelihoods, amid reports that more than 25 Bedouin communities have been displaced. The escalation targets Area C, which makes up about 62% of the West Bank, and is extending into Area B.
