The Iraqi government has begun implementing the framework agreement on water with Turkey, with the Council of Ministers approving the start of the project financing mechanism for this agreement’s projects beginning September 1, 2026. The aim is to regulate water resources and develop relations in this sector. Additionally, a vote was taken to diversify oil export routes and to sign memorandums of understanding for the establishment of a pipeline connecting Iraq’s production to export markets across the Mediterranean Sea. There was also an assessment of investment potentials in western oil fields. Furthermore, approvals were given for various projects across the oil and electricity sectors, including the development of West Qurna-2 oil field, the announcement of the Al-Qayara integrated project, and increasing power generation capacity, all aimed at strengthening infrastructure and boosting production levels.
