The article discusses the concept of "the death of the author," introduced by philosopher and critic Roland Barthes in 1967, which aims to abolish the author's absolute authority over the literary text. The article affirms that this concept transforms the nature of literary reading, as the text becomes independent of the author's intent, granting readers the freedom to interpret it in multiple and evolving ways. It also clarifies that the theory contributed to the emergence of critical schools such as Reception Theory and Deconstruction, which have made reading an creative act comparable to writing itself. The text believes that a text remains alive, rewriting itself with each new reading, and that the lifespan of a text is not measured by the author's years but by its ability to endure and influence across generations. This reinforces the idea that a text acquires a new life after the symbolic or physical death of its author.
