First Book Project faces 50 challenges

The Ahlam Al-Ahsa Writers' Association is launching the "First Book" project, which aims to publish 50 books in its initial phase with support from the Ministry of Culture. The goal is to empower young literary talents to publish their debut works and present them to the public. Manuscripts will be accepted through an official announcement, then reviewed by specialized judging committees that adhere to standards of quality, originality, artistic and linguistic integrity. Emphasis will be placed on diversifying literary genres, and opportunities will be provided for creators who have not previously published books. The project seeks to distribute the publications through various outlets, participate in book fairs and cultural events, and promote literary and cultural awareness in Al-Ahsa. Additionally, officials plan to translate some of the works and convert them into digital versions, develop training programs for authors, and increase the number of publications in the future. The success of the project will be measured by the reach and impact of the works on the cultural scene and its support for new talents. Among its most prominent achievements is the novel "All of Them Were Beautiful" by young writer Ola Al-Hajji, which stands out as the region’s youngest novelist.
