Cardiac arrests reach 12,200 with 24percent revival
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority’s annual report revealed a 5% increase in cases of cardiac arrest and pulse stoppage treated during 2025, totaling 12,226 cases compared to 11,645 in 2024. The heartbeat was restored before hospital arrival in 24% of these cases, with recovery rates most concentrated in November and December at 25% and 24%, respectively. April recorded the lowest recovery rate at 11%. The authority emphasizes the importance of enhancing the cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) system by providing modern equipment, training programs for paramedics, and improving treatment procedures, as cardiac arrest is linked to various causes such as artery diseases, blood clots, electrical disturbances in the heart, and oxygen deprivation. It also underscores the vital role of learning CPR and early intervention to reduce mortality rates, along with monitoring health risk factors like obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
