The Jazan region is preparing for the 2026 rainy season through an integrated preventive system aimed at managing flood risks and protecting lives and property. The preparations include the construction of 419 culverts, 52 bridges, and 171 flood barrier sites spanning 286 kilometers. Additionally, water drainage systems are being developed, increasing their capacity from 4,800 liters per second in 2022 to 18,000 liters by 2026, along with expanding drainage networks from 107 to 179 kilometers. The number of locations prone to water accumulation has also decreased from 867 sites in 2022 to 386 in 2026. These efforts are part of a strategic plan to enhance infrastructure resilience, ensuring effective handling of rainfall and floods to safeguard residents and maintain continuous services.
