Ceuta supports Madrid's position
The article addresses the crisis of mass migration to the Spanish city of Ceuta, revealing the worsening situation and its impact on the European Union. Over the past few weeks, approximately 69,000 migrants have been returned to Morocco, while between 3,000 and 5,000 remain inside the city under difficult humanitarian conditions, including shortages of food, shelter, and deteriorating care for legally protected minors. It notes that the Spanish government managed to contain the surge and repatriate the migrants, with European countries such as France and Denmark participating in supporting the control efforts. Meanwhile, the crisis is prompting a reevaluation of European migration policies, with calls to establish registration centers within third countries and to enhance intelligence cooperation. Additionally, 75 deaths have been reported so far, and calls have been raised to tighten border measures and scrutinize security agencies. This has sparked European disagreements over how external countries are exploiting the crisis to divide the bloc. The article highlights how the crisis has become a test of the European Union’s migration pact and the member states’ cooperation in addressing it.
