Gulf Identity Story
The article discusses the Gulf identity crisis, which suffers from a lack of solid grounding and understanding of the region's history and the diversity of its societies. This is due to selective interpretation and political utilization of history, as well as a discrepancy between the official and everyday identities. It clarifies that the Gulf narrative lacks clear concepts for the future and is dominated by ephemeral discourse that dissolves with changing circumstances, making the identity fragile and fragmented. The piece also highlights a dissonance between the official identity rhetoric and the daily reality of individuals, with a continued disconnection between the past and the present. It emphasizes that a solution requires a critical review that restores importance to local histories and ancient experiences, and fosters an identity built on deep and diverse roots.
