Riyadh's role in AI regulation
Saudi Arabia has launched an international center for AI research and ethics (ICAIRE) in Riyadh, with the aim of participating in establishing the rules and standards governing the use and regulation of smart technologies, beyond mere research and development. This move comes as part of the Kingdom's efforts to build an integrated ecosystem that includes ethical principles, infrastructure development, and governance regulation, as it leads the global artificial intelligence race. The Kingdom emphasizes that its role extends beyond the market, encompassing the shaping of regulatory and ethical frameworks, with its international center contributing to fostering Arab and Islamic dialogue in this area, and achieving a balance between technological advancement and ethical considerations.
