The article focused on the call by the Head of the Reconstruction and Development Alliance, Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani, to resolve the issue of arms possession in Iraq through national dialogue and wisdom. This comes in conjunction with the approaching end of the international coalition's mission in Iraq on September 30, 2026. Al-Sudani emphasizes that ending the coalition's mission will strengthen Iraq’s sovereignty and independence in decision-making, and that the authority to use weapons should be exclusively held by the state and its democratic institutions. He calls for a broad national dialogue, away from threats and escalation, to prevent disagreements from turning into sedition or internal conflict. He underscores that Iraq is capable of building a sovereign state with strong security forces while maintaining its regional and international relations. The speech aims to address the weapon issue responsibly to prevent Iraq from being dragged back into the cycle of internal conflicts.
