Clan actions targeting Hezbollah
Large clans and families in the Baalbek-Hermel region of Lebanon have begun moving to establish a coalition that expresses a unified political stance against Hezbollah's policies. They are calling for arms to be held solely by the Lebanese army and for a stronger presence of the state. The coalition, which is also reaching out to other Arab tribes in Bekaa and Akkar, aims to support state institutions, uphold Lebanon’s sovereignty, and oppose external interventions—particularly in relation to Syria. This initiative comes amid increasing security and political tensions, with some clans turning into an opposition to Hezbollah’s policies. The party, which has long presented itself as a protector and supporter of these tribes in the face of a weak state presence, has become a target of opposition. The goal is to protect the Shia community from regional interventions and to bring about a political balance that redefines the relationship between the community and the state.
