Intelligence Chief and 200 Fighters Defect from RSF
Sudan has witnessed a split of about 200 fighters from the Rapid Support Forces, who have joined the Sudanese Armed Forces. The new recruits are led by Abu Bakr Hamouda Dhalouf, who confirmed that the group is now fully armed and ready to participate in military operations to eliminate the Rapid Support Forces. This development comes amid the ongoing conflict that has been taking place since April 2023 between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, with increasing clashes in Kordofan—a region of strategic military importance. The aim is to strengthen the government forces' positions and to regain control of vital areas. This step marks a significant tactical development in the ongoing struggle, as the warring parties seek to bolster their forces and escalate the fight over control of Sudan.
