On September 10, Saudi Arabia officially designated as the International Day for Search and Rescue within the framework of the global "COSPAS-SARSAT" program. This initiative is a Saudi-led effort, in collaboration with the international community, to celebrate humanitarian efforts in search and rescue operations that rely on satellite technologies. Since joining the program in 2000, the Kingdom has invested in developing its infrastructure and national expertise. Field personnel and space-based technologies have contributed to saving over 70,000 lives since 1982. In 2025 alone, the country carried out more than 1,180 rescue operations, saving 2,765 people around the world.
