Dollar gains as euro declines after ECB rate hike
The dollar rose against the major currencies, recovering from losses this week caused by rising oil prices and global bond yields. The dollar index increased by 0.34%, reaching 99.12 points. Meanwhile, the euro declined by 0.28% against the dollar, falling to 1.1599 USD after the European Central Bank raised interest rates for the second time this year in an effort to curb inflation resulting from rising energy prices due to the Iran conflict.
