Lion evokes fortress past
Al-Shabab repeated its historic six-goal win over Al-Ahli, beating them 6–1 in Round 12 of the Roshn League and rekindling memories of their 2008 King’s Cup quarter-final meeting, 18 years ago. Belgian Yannick Carrasco led the way with a hat-trick, while Brazilian Ricardo Matias scored the opening goal and helped win a penalty and get Al-Ahli’s goalkeeper sent off. The victory took Al-Shabab to 14 points and extended its head-to-head advantage to 12 wins, compared with 11 for Al-Ahli and 12 draws.
