Refereeing Expert Criticizes Mbappé Penalty
Experts in arbitration have confirmed that the decision not to re-take the penalty missed by Kylian Mbappe during the match between Real Madrid and Real Betis, after Betis defender Marc Bartra's intervention, was incorrect and should be reconsidered. According to the rules, whether a player is inside the penalty area is determined by the part of the foot in contact with the ground at the moment of taking the kick, not by parts of the body in the air, which could have changed the referee’s decision. Additionally, experts pointed out that video assistant technology should have been used to direct the referee to review the incident, potentially impacting the outcome of the match.
