The article reviewed the changes that took place within the leadership system of FC Barcelona's team during the 2026-2027 season. Coach Hansie Flick implemented a new arrangement of leadership authority, blending direct selection with player votes. Flick appointed two captains, Raphinha and Pedri, while the other three—Eric Garcia, Frenkie de Jong, and Lamine Yamal—were left to be chosen by their teammates. The modifications resulted in 19-year-old young player Lamine Yamal earning the fifth leadership position through player voting. Meanwhile, de Jong dropped to the fourth spot due to injury, and Eric Garcia rose to third place, leveraging his influence and leadership through example. This new approach demonstrates that leadership at Barcelona no longer relies solely on seniority; factors such as consistent presence, sporting influence, and team votes now intertwine, reflecting a shift in the hierarchy of authority within the locker room.
