The Kuwaiti national football team has begun preparations for the Gulf Cup "Gulf 27," with a particular focus on their opening match against Saudi Arabia on September 23 in Jeddah. The draw placed Kuwait in Group One alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iraq, while Group Two includes Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Yemen. The Kuwaiti team halted their domestic league after the third round and will resume competitions after their participation in the tournament concludes. They held their first training session at the Naser Club stadium, and a roster of 27 players was announced, led by Portuguese coach Hélio Sousa. The squad will travel to Qatar for a short training camp before heading to Jeddah to play the preparatory matches. The selected players include names such as Rakan Al-Saeed, Saud Al-Houshan, and Khalid Al-Rashidi, among others. These preparations aim to ready the team for their match against Saudi Arabia at the tournament's start and to compete for the title.
