Saudi fans surprise Donis with odd beliefs
Despite the Saudi national team’s victory over Qatar via penalties and their qualification to the Gulf Cup 27 final, Greek coach Georgios Donis faced harsh criticism from fans regarding his tactical choices, including the starting lineup and substitutions during the match. The level of Mohammed Abu Shamat was mentioned as an example, as he was not given a greater opportunity. Additionally, the substitutions that caused a decline in performance were criticized, particularly the withdrawal of an active player like Sultan Mandash. Fans expressed concern about the squad that will be relied upon in the final against the UAE, emphasizing that winning alone is not enough if the tactical options are unconvincing. They stressed that reforms are necessary to secure the title and to prove the coach’s worth.
