Consisao clarifies criticism
To clarify and correct his previous statement, Portuguese coach Sérgio Conceição said that he did not intend to belittle Saudi players during his remarks to the Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport." Instead, his goal was to clarify the differences between football cultures and the challenges he faced in Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that he values and respects Saudi Arabia as a country that hosted him and his family. His comments were not meant as criticism but as an explanation of the differences in the level of football between Saudi Arabia and Europe, noting that the challenges primarily involved adapting to the environment. He also denied having said that Saudi players are poor, stressing his deep respect for Saudi Arabia and the local players.
