The Fourth Criminal Court of Transitional Justice in Damascus issued a death sentence against Abdel Naser Barki, after it was proven that he was responsible for serious crimes including enforced disappearance, torture resulting in death, involvement in murder, deprivation of liberty, and criminal defamation. The ruling comes within the framework of transitional justice efforts to hold accountable those responsible for severe violations, to affirm the principle of accountability, and in accordance with international and national legal laws. This verdict represents a judicial precedent in Syria and solidifies accountability and victims' rights, as investigations and trials of those involved in crimes against humanity and war crimes continue.
