Al-Shbayani: Syrian weapon monopoly is sovereign right

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Shibani affirmed that limiting weapons to the state’s hands is an absolute sovereign right aimed at protecting national sovereignty. This step serves as a deterrent on the path to rebuilding the army and integrating armed factions. He mentioned that Syria has restructured its national institutions to unify and maintain its sovereignty, along with implementing a roadmap in the Sweida province in collaboration with Jordan and the United States, aiming to restore security, services, and strengthen reconciliation. Shibani also emphasized that Syria continues its diplomatic efforts to end tensions with Israel, asserts its sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, and rejects Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over Golan. He added that Syria aims to be included in Arab recovery and reconstruction funds by 2027, seeking to develop the education sector and rehabilitate scientific institutions, with a firm belief that its achievements will form a Syrian success story to be proud of.
