Young man faces trial over family murders
The Trier Court in Germany has begun trial proceedings against a 19-year-old German male, who is accused of killing his father, his father's partner, and her daughter during a family vacation in the Cape Verde Islands in December 2025. He is suspected of stabbing the three victims to death inside a holiday apartment in Mindelo, just days before Christmas, amidst mystery surrounding the motive. The defendant left the island and was arrested in Lisbon, then transferred to Germany in January 2026. His lawyer has so far denied that he has given any statements. Investigations still lack clear information about the motive behind the crime, as the court continues efforts to clarify the circumstances.
