Finance Ministry Cuts Import Taxes

The Syrian Ministry of Finance issued a decision to reduce the advance tax rate for importers of industrial production inputs and food items from 2% to 1%, aimed at supporting the economy and the business sector. The decision applies to import transactions exceeding a value of one hundred thousand Syrian pounds, with some operations being exempt from the advance tax. It also sets out mechanisms for transferring the amounts to the central treasury, while continuing to verify the accuracy of the declared values. The decision will take effect starting June 1, 2026.
