Hijri Calendar Sparks Exam Concerns in Sweida
The Sweida Governorate faces a threat of depriving its students of taking the Basic Education and Sharia Preparatory Examination in 2026, due to Hujri militia’s obstruction of students’ departure from the governorate and their access to examination centers in Damascus and its countryside. Despite government measures that provided free transportation and security arrangements to ensure students' safety, armed groups are blocking the arrival of some students, leading to buses departing without passengers and interference with exam supervision processes. Approximately 13,700 students are registered to take the exams in Sweida, and any disruption could significantly impact their academic futures.
