Homs ICU Faces Demand and Resource Limits
The Homs Governorate faces significant challenges in providing intensive care services, with the number of beds ranging between 60 and 70. There is a shortage of medical staff and modern equipment, which puts great pressure on public hospitals and sometimes results in occupancy rates exceeding 100%. The health authorities are working to support and develop the departments through new equipment and updated devices, in response to the rising demand caused by a large influx of returning residents and increased costs in the private sector. The current circumstances call for enhanced coordination between the public and private sectors and the achievement of integrated care for patients in critical conditions.
