Sheikh Hassan's Homs Arrest Sparks Debate
The arrest of Sheikh Hassan 'Ibarama,' an elderly religious figure from Homs aged over eighty, sparked widespread controversy after the police announced that he was suspected of claiming prophethood, despite having no ties to any political activity. In response to questions, a security statement clarified that investigations confirmed he holds beliefs related to receiving divine revelation, and that he insists on his convictions despite undergoing sessions aimed at correcting his thoughts and psychological state. No other official statement has been issued to clarify the reasons for the end of his detention period or the legal procedures involved.
