Apple has begun testing the use of memory chips from the Chinese company CXMT in its smart products, including iPhones and MacBooks, in an effort to mitigate the impact of the chip shortage crisis that has driven up global product prices. Apple is negotiating with CXMT to secure approval from the U.S. authorities to incorporate its chips into their devices, despite federal restrictions that prohibit certain technology exchanges with Chinese companies. The company's goal is to reduce production costs and counter the rising prices of chips, which have led to increased prices for products like Mac and iPad, with expectations of a significant rise in the price of new iPhones. However, CXMT's current stock depletion limits its capabilities, while expanding the Chinese company's production capacity threatens to enable it to compete with major global firms in the memory chip market in the future.
