Bourguiba House to Build Electric Steel Plant
The Tunisian Steel Manufacturing Company in Menzel Bourguiba, Bizerte Governorate, plans to establish a new electric steel plant that relies on iron alloys with added carbon. The project requires preparing a request for proposals from approved consulting firms to determine the implementation pathway, following the issuance of Order No. 423 of 2025, which regulates the designation of non-usable iron materials, to be stripped from government entities and transferred to the company. The plan includes building a 120-ton electric furnace for recycling scrap metal and improving production lines to reduce carbon emissions and costs, with the aim of gradually serving the local market and opening export markets that comply with international environmental standards. This step is considered a significant investment to enhance the company's competitive capabilities and diversify its products.
