France sees 800,000 protest over living costs
Approximately 800,000 people demonstrated in France on Saturday to protest the rising cost of living, amid clashes with security forces in several cities. The protests began in Paris and cities such as Marseille, Lyon, and Nantes, and involved students, farmers, environmental activists, and supporters of the "Yellow Vest" movement. Police used tear gas, and some sites, such as the town hall in Marseille and a tourism office in Lyon, were attacked by protesters. Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron called for calm and respect for the right to demonstrate, emphasizing the importance of not exploiting legitimate demands for political purposes.
