The festivities included his speech, in which he highlighted his political and economic achievements, and praised U.S. military operations in the Middle East. The celebrations featured numerous events such as military displays, cultural festivals, and lighting up Washington Monument in the colors of the American flag. The celebrations faced criticism from opponents who considered them to be a platform for the ruling party, amid Trump’s efforts to boost his image ahead of the midterm elections.
