Aoun endorses France and Italy's coalition above UNIFIL
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warmly welcomed France and Italy’s announcement of forming an international coalition for the post-United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) phase, considering the initiative as reflecting a global commitment to support Lebanon's sovereignty and stability. He affirmed that this approach aligns with Lebanon's vision, which regards the Lebanese Army as the primary guarantor of security and national sovereignty. He also emphasized the importance of preventing any vacuum once UNIFIL’s mission concludes and underscored the need to bolster the army’s capabilities to preserve Lebanon’s territorial unity and prevent regional conflicts.
