Israel-Lebanon sign US agreement
Lebanon and Israel, under the auspices of the United States, signed a framework agreement in Washington that includes measures to reduce tensions along the border. This includes two pilot projects that aim to end limited Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army in those areas. This step is part of an effort to strengthen prospects for achieving future peace, despite ongoing uncertainty about the implementation of the agreement and the continued presence, influence, and power of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
