Cyberattack damages UK economy by 2.5B
Jaguar Land Rover was subjected to a cyberattack in late August 2025, leading to a five-week halt in production and causing economic losses estimated at around $2.5 billion, including $350 million lost during the 2026 fiscal year. It is believed that Russian hackers were behind the attack, which targeted the company's systems and exploited vulnerabilities in outdated technology before cybersecurity experts were able to regain control of the systems and gradually resume production, with government support in the form of a nearly two-billion-dollar loan. The attack highlights the risks faced by the UK's industrial sector from cyber threats that pose a danger to the national economy.
