Netanyahu Announces Israel-Lebanon Framework
Israel and Lebanon, in cooperation with the United States, reached an agreement stipulating the withdrawal of Israeli forces from two areas in southern Lebanon. This accord was signed following four days of negotiations in Washington. Lebanese forces will move into the two regions, located north and south of the Litani River, as a pilot step to reinforce the ceasefire, while Israel will continue occupying certain areas until Hezbollah is disarmed. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu considered this a major victory for Israel.
