U.S. Secretary of State updates on Lebanon deal
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon embodies a clear mechanism for disarming Hezbollah and restoring Lebanese sovereignty. It includes the establishment of a trilateral military coordination group under American sponsorship. The agreement was signed following talks in Washington aimed at ending the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, with the United States pledging $100 million in humanitarian aid and $30 million for the Lebanese Armed Forces. The goal of the agreement is to achieve genuine peace and full sovereignty for Lebanon, with Hezbollah and Iran exiting the equation.
