Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized the importance of the Lebanese Army's return along the border with Israel, underscoring the need for American pressure to withdraw Israeli forces from Lebanese-occupied territories. He pointed out that ongoing occupation undermines the legitimacy of the state, hampers the deployment of the army, and obstructs the achievement of lasting peace. He stated that negotiation is the only option after the failure of war to restore sovereignty, stressing that Israeli withdrawal is the key to genuine progress toward stability and security on the southern border. Aoun also reaffirmed the impossibility of returning to civil war and called for support to military institutions and the defense of Lebanese sovereignty.
