The article discusses French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Damascus, the first of its kind by a Western leader since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. The visit aims to strengthen France's position on the Syrian issue. It comes within the framework of supporting a political transition in Syria, which includes a new Islamic alliance led by Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar'a, and emphasizes the need to protect all Syrians. The visit also highlights support for reconstruction efforts, despite the ongoing significant economic challenges, with estimated reconstruction costs exceeding $216 billion and obstacles such as international sanctions and lack of funding.
