Rome 2: Italy Checks Lebanon Deployment
The article discusses the seventh round of Lebanese-Israeli negotiations held under American sponsorship in Rome, aimed at making progress on the demarcation of borders and halting the escalation in southern Lebanon. The negotiations include Lebanon's demands to solidify a ceasefire and improve the situation in the occupied areas, amid efforts to pressure Israel to put an end to its destructive projects, particularly in southern Litani, which aim to destroy infrastructure and agricultural resources. The Lebanese delegation emphasizes the need to implement American commitments and secure international support to stop the escalation, focusing on coordinating military operations, sharing territorial control, and involving an Italian battalion to monitor the deployment of the army. Additionally, the discussions focus on strategies to prevent attacks on Hezbollah sites and underscore the importance of Israel's withdrawal from the hills that it uses as launching points for assaults, all in pursuit of enhancing Lebanon's security and regional stability.
