Saudi Foreign Minister on Iran Tensions
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing the Kingdom's commitment to achieving regional security and stability. Amid the escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, Washington announced that it canceled a planned attack against Iran at Tehran's and other countries' request. Iran, for its part, denied any intention to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and considered its closure a consequence of the U.S. breach of its commitments and the maritime blockade imposed on it.
