18 Dead in Gaza Strikes Amid Ceasefire Talks
Eighteen Palestinians were killed, including four children and two women, in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, despite progress in efforts to implement a ceasefire agreement. Israeli aircraft, including drones and helicopters, targeted homes, displaced persons' tents, and civilian areas across different parts of the sector. These strikes resulted in civilian casualties and injuries of varying severity, including an attack on a civilian vehicle and strikes on Palestinian gatherings. Palestinian resistance factions have been accused of deliberately escalating violence to obstruct understandings with mediators, while the Israeli army has not issued an official statement regarding the strikes, despite claiming the elimination of "three terrorists." These escalations by Israel are part of ongoing tensions since incomplete agreements, which have led to the deaths of more than 73,000 Palestinians since October 2023, amidst continued regional instability.
