Morocco reports 40,000 arrivals in Ceuta
The Moroccan Ministry of Interior has clarified that approximately 40,000 migrants attempted to illegally cross into the city of Ceuta during events that resulted in the death of 11 people. It indicated that these assaults were the result of a combination of factors, such as the dissemination of misleading information through social media, human trafficking gangs, and misinterpretations of laws that led some migrants to believe they could reach Europe easily without legal repercussions. Additionally, it emphasized that the recent incidents were not merely due to circumstantial factors. Official figures report the recovery of 88 bodies from the sea, with search operations ongoing. A floating security barrier has also been installed to prevent illegal crossing attempts from Morocco, amidst a large influx of migrants at the border.
